The Academy has worked cooperatively with various bodies to ensure that only the most experienced professionals are included in our member roster. Note though that there are no formal certification requirements for the private practice of mediation or arbitration in Tennessee.
Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts
The Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts is the policy-making body appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to oversee the development of court-connected ADR programs in Tennessee. The division that oversees certification of Rule 31 Mediators is the Supreme Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission (ADRC). This is composed of judges, attorneys and non-attorney members, and meets on a regular basis to consider issues important to the development of court-connected ADR in Tennessee. Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators
An assocication for mediators with expertise in family/divorce cases. The TAPM organizes regular meetings, publishes a newsletter and provides training opportunities for members. It also maintains a roster of mediators, most of whom have experience with domestic cases. For more info, visit website.
